Me. I'm the pits.
Work has been busy because it is the middle of the fiscal year and I'm out busting heads and telling people what to do and how to run their businesses. Home is busy because I have a maniacal baby who never sits still and he's always busting his head and I'm always telling him what not to do and cleaning up his business. Life is rough these days for me.
I took Jake to Children's Hospital last week for a follow up visit for his surgery. The doctor said that everything looks good, but the biopsy showed that there is a slight chance that Jake could come down with a pesky case of cancer in the now-descended testicle some day. The chance is about 1 in 100, and I have to take him back when he is 13 years old for further testing and instruction on self examination, though I trust that he will be doing plenty self-examination by then on his own. I do like that they encourage open communication about this and for the boys to check themselves, and part of the instruction is about not being embarrassed if something seems a little off down there. I'm not too worried about the cancer risk. My whole family is riddled with the stuff and we seem to be doing well.
Cancer-Schmancer I say. Plus it's a good excuse to take some good old-fashioned alone time with yourself while you feel around for offending lumps.
There is also some risk for diminished fertility, but the doc says that shouldn't be a problem since the other side is perfectly normal. Jake goes in for fertility testing when he is 18, and that should be tons of fun for him too, what with the sample cups and magazines and private rooms.
So that's that. Not much else has been going on, and you'll get the big eleven month Jake update on Saturday. I hope everyone is doing well and not succumbing to the doldrums as wholly as I am.
