I just got an email from someone I started grad school with. He is just wrapping up his dissertation. "That could be me!" my brain screamed. But it probably couldn't be. I'd probably still be stuck trying to write a catchy abstract (read:distract) that steered you from the fact that I had neglected to formulate a sound methodology and you were really just holding 200 pages of my radical opinions on the way I feel things should be and would be if I ruled the world.
And everyone who knows me knows that I base my opinions on my current emotions and I have no faith in a concept of what is right or wrong/true or false outside of my experiences, which are evaluated on the basis on my current emotions which formulate my opinions. And so on and so on in a vicious cycle of nonsense.
So maybe it's better that I quit while I was ahead.
Oh, and if you care, if I would have done a dissertation it would most likely be based on Social Disorganization Theory as it pertains to concentric patterns of gentrification, relative deprivation, glamorization of an urban subculture, and a lack of suitable and approachable supervision.
Whaa???
Basically:
*rich people want to be closer to their fancypants offices and restaurants so they are shoving poor people out of their homes in downtown center city areas and the poor people are being forced to move to outlying working class neighborhoods where no one likes poor people because working class people consider themselves to be far superior than poor people.
*So the working class has to move to the middle class areas, where they aren't wanted and the middle class people end up in the burbs and rural areas where it is "safe".
*The poor and working class kids feel like they are entitled to everything the rich and middle class kids have and the rich and middle class kids want to be all thugged out and cool so everyone starts stealing everyone else's stuff and mayhem ensues because the grownups are scared and prejudiced and they lock themselves in the house and the police stay in their cruisers, allowing teenagers to take over the world and the city gets dangerous and the countryside becomes a battleground and everyone gets shot and raped and killed and beaten.
*Insert variables and psychobabble and hypotheses and tests and stats here.
The end.

Which is exactly why I'm taking my kids to the bunker...
Dr. Lora....has a nice ring...if you're going for pompous and self-important. Really, anyone who's not a medical doctor should not put "Dr." before their name. Anyway, you should go for your PhD once Jake's a little older. I love learning, and I plan to go to school forever. You should too!
I would give you an A if I understood the title. Hell, I might have given you an A anyway just to keep from reading it.
You impressed me.
I just like you so much.
I would have liked to read your thoughts on it.

I know what you mean.I can never get out of this.
You could still write on this though. Get it published, etc etc. You are such an articulate and concise writer.
You might also find your ideas on things are more distinct and organized than you think.
