i spend mine so you don't have to spend yours

I'm always on the lookout for the perfect beverage. I just typed drink, but I'm not always on the lookout for the perfect drink. "Drink" infers booze, and I already know what I like there. No looking out for me there, I go straight to it.

I hate juice. I'd rather have a piece of fruit and a glass of water. I hate what companies try to pass as juice, sugar-water like punches and ades. Soda is gross. It rots your teeth and makes you feel/get fat. And who wants that?

Tea is sometimes appropriate, and lately I'm enjoying some Essensia (Acme brand) mint green tea at the office and some sort of cubby wubby womb room Candy Cane Celestial Seasoning stuff at home. Mint tea is the bizzy, you should try it. I really love a bag of mint and a bag of chamomile jammed in one cup.

Coffee is good, but lots of times I drink it strictly for medicinal purposes rather than taste, so I'm no one to give you advice on coffee.

Even though I know I'm going to hell for shopping at Starbucks, I can't stay away from their mucho delicioso autumnal wonderousness special seasonal temptations. I try to limit myself to one per week, because they are something like $5 a piece and for the amount of hot beverage I like to imbibe when the mercury dips, my beverage tab can add up to a greater dollar amount than my daycare bill. Plus there are eighty gajillion calories per sip, and although I would rather drink my lunch than eat it, that isn't a very good way to go about it.

So what should you buy the next time you want to be wrapped in the soft and wavy, supple and striped arms/tail things of the merlady? That menu is confusing if you aren't in there every day. And all those weird words instead of just saying small, medium, or large. So irritating.
After spending hundreds of dollars on research, I would recommend the following:
Salted Caramel Signature Hot Chocolate Holy crap. That's all there is to say about that.
Gingerbread Lattes (hard to find, Pumpkin Spice is a palatable alternative)
Vanilla Latte (order a sugar free one with skim milk, and it is 75 cents cheaper than asking for a "Skinny Vanilla Latte". It is one of those universe mysteries. No one knows why this is.)
And pretty soon they will bring back the Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha and I will be up to my neck in that spectacularness.

Trust me on this one, I've had everything on the menu at least twice.

Also, don't you love how I go about this as though I'm doing you a favor, but really it is just a bunch of crap about me and what I like and what I think and what I do?

I have a tendency to do that.

I counted the word I in this post 27 times.
29 if you count the sentence above, and I didn't (there goes 30) bother counting the me's and the my's and the mine's.

I'm such a self important douche, what with all the $5 drinks and the references to myself. How do you stand it?

That peppermint white choc one sounds orgasmic! Too bad down here they only have Starbucks in the capital city (which is at least an hour from me) and only on the rich side.

Although I wouldn't have tasted one if you'd have told me its name . . . try an egg cream.

I'm a tea or hot chocolate drinker when it gets cold, and I'll never pay Starbucks' prices. I do remember listening to DC101 in the mornings this time of year though. Those Gingerbread Lattes were like crack to Elliot in the Morning. It was hilarious. He'd call and bug the Starbucks for a couple weeks before they came out until he could finally get one.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. Mommy needs her lattes. I try to keep it to a one per week minimum too. My choice of beverage, though, is dunkin donuts and thankyou, thankyou, the pumpkin latte is back.

I've been curious about the salted caramel hot chocolate from Starbucks. I'm pretty boring though- I always get the steamed apple juice. But for cold drinks, I LOVE their shaken iced tea lemonade made with passion tea. So excellent! And much less scary when it comes to counting calories or fat (that Starbucks site is addicting... I searched all my favorite drinks).

I'm with "Your Brother," egg creams are yummy! Try making your own juice. I do all the time. I don't have a fancy juicer, just a blender--I like chunks.

I don't like juice either with the exception of V-8 - I love V-8.

I'd have to seek out a Starbucks here (I think there are 3 in my city of 500,000 people), so I don't have a lot of experience with the fancy coffees. Also? I would be too nervous to order a beverage with so many variables!

Mmmm, gingerbread latte. And Starbucks just happens to be on my way home from the crazy dr. Sigh. There goes my allowance for the week.
