inside secrets

I had coffee with Heather today. She blogs here. And here. And here.
Ever wonder what happens when two bloggers who have never met before in real life sit down over a quick cup of coffee?

There is a lot of talking.

Go figure.

It's never awkward, but sometimes it's hard to find topics that have gone unblogged about.

Ever wonder what all the talk is about?
Well, most of the sentences start with "I", sometimes "We", rarely anything else. I think it's because we tend to be really good at talking about ourselves. We do it so well that there aren't enough ears or hours in the day to do it aloud, and that's why we plaster ourselves all over the internet.
Once we get ourselves taken care of, we talk about you. And you. And your parenting style. And your new diagnosis. And your weird kid. And oh gosh, I just can't for the life of me get my hyperlinks to work. Darn.

Who do you know in real life? What do you talk about? Who do you talk about?

Virtual world and real world meet...interesting. I feel like I really know some of my blogger friends, but at the same time how will I ever know if these friends are being true? Theses people's blogs could be written about their fictional, ideal selves for all I know. That said, there are only a select few bloggers I would consider actually meeting in-person. I have trust issues....can you tell?

I have wondered what it would be like to meet a fellow blogger? You know, I tend to divulge everything on my blog because I don't KNOW anyone, you tend to keep a part of you back or secret from your face to face friends, don't you? Although, my three closest friends I have given my blog address, so I guess they do know everything about me, YIKES! But, several of my other friends I would never let them see my blog.

Anyways, I pretty much chat with them what I chat with you guys about and they give it right back to me. My best friend calls weekly and she had to hear all about my latest drama and I got to hear about hers. She is having work drama this week but sometimes it is husband or kids drama, pretty much the same as all of us!

NONE OF MY FAMILY(accept my husband and two kids) OR CO WORKERS HAVE THE BLOG ADDRESS.

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever have friends in the real world again because those I know through blogs and message boards seem so much more real to me and I share so much more of myself with them.

I have yet to met anyone in person. I just can't make it to Blogher and am a bit bummed about that. I live so far away from civilization, as it is defined, that it will be a while before I make first contact with anyone.

we talk about YOUR hilarious posts!! and crazy bee-atches who make up insane stories and scare real mothers everywhere.....and how to get kids to eat broccoli because jessica seinfeld may be able to trick her kids but mine is onto anything that I may try to sneak in the brownies....and whether these pants make me look fat and if that woman on the 3rd floor looks in the mirror before she comes to work....

I like how the internet has opened up a whole world of people we might otherwise never have met. Like you. I probably would have never run across you, OK, maybe at Waldameer one summer as we're chasing our kids, but what are the odds? I met my husband online and our 9th anniversary is this year. The internet can't be all bad.

Um, yeah I'm really good at talking about myself. And I sort of HATE that about myself. I do enjoy talking about literature, movies, TV, parenting, the meaning of life (ugh, philosophy), SEX. I love talking about sex. Because I'm, like, emotionally stuck in adolescence or something. When can I get an audience with you?

That's awesome that you got together with another Philly area blogger. I love that through blogging I've found people that live and breathe like me nearby...people that I would never have met maybe. When I get together with my other mommy blogging buddy we talk about business, toddler rage, husbands and of course our blogs. We gals need to stick together and support each other. I'd be up for meeting for coffee in Philly sometime!
