Or man, if you ask him.
He's not a boy, he's a man, and he earned it. He will tell you harrowing stories of his boyhood and the lessons he took from them that helped him become the strapping man he is today.
"one time, when i wassa little boy, i ran out in the street and almost got hit by a car and BEEEEPP!!! and SCREEEEAAACCH! and now i never run out in the street unless i'm with you"
"one time, when i wassa little boy, i drank outta the mr.yuck and got a tummyache and i puked it and now i only let mommy clean so i'll just go play while you take care of this mess"
"one time, when i wassa little boy, a knife came out of the drawer and cut and cut and cut and cut me and i hadta go to the hospital and get sewn together and now i only get spoons and forks"
None of this ever happened, mind you. At least on my watch.
But the babyness is flying by and the boyness is stepping in and instead of constant cuddles and tickles and touches and butterfly kisses and friendly footraces and gentlemen's games of CandyLand and Chutes and Ladders and playing together nicely and such we are getting punches and muscles and superpowers and car crashes and helicopter rescues and police chases and mean faces and blood and guts and poop and butts and all sorts of other snips and snaily puppydog taily stuff.
But at least I get cool pictures to hang on the fridge.
"this one is a bones guy with a little beard and an eyepatch"
Well, dammit if it isn't.

It's crazy how in the blink of an eye they go from begging you to curl up in bed with them to dishing tales of bad guys getting runover by garbage trucks and army men being dead, and elbow drops to the stuffed animals and constant announcements of pooping, farting, peeing, you get the picture. They are hilarious in the extreme detail of these stories and imaginary play, and it cracks me up. How fast they grow....
That's a pretty good drawign too! My little one already says "Arrrrrggghhhh!" When he sees a pirate.
No! Don't say these things! My oldest boy just turned two in April and I'd like to think he'll be cuddly and kissy forever!
Please say it's so!
You scared me for a minute. I wondered when all of these things had happened to Jake!
Spencer's been running around pointing his finger and yelling "Bam! Bam! Bam!" this morning.
Tell me. Does he get that from Super Why? or Thomas? Or Bob the Builder?
I love the stuff that comes out of kids mouths...words, not puke...
I am obsessed with the drawings where the legs and arms come right out of the giant head. I love them so much! Claire drew a neck and body the other day and I almost cried.
He certainly has grown up fast....maybe it's time for #2. ;)
That is great.
More often than not around here, the answer to the question "What did you think about while you were in time-out?" begins with "Well, when I was borned like a baby, I usta do [current infraction] but now I bigger so I don't do dat ANYmore." So far no illustrations to go along with the stories, though.
I love this picture. Jake is so precious. I think Jake and Liv are soul mates. Check it out:http://livyjune.blogspot.com/2009/04/skeleton-wearing-skeleton-shirt.html
Loving the stories.
My Fav is this one:
"one time, when i wassa little boy, a knife came out of the drawer and cut and cut and cut and cut me and i hadta go to the hospital and get sewn together and now i only get spoons and forks"
Although i was a little worried for a second there.
Are you living in my house?
T has been reporting on lot's of things that happened to him back in the day. Events involving motorcycles, and chickens and big abandoned buildings.
Back when he was a kid of course.
.....Sigh
I also have two like that. The best friend brothers.
Yet another reason to be happy I have a nonverbal child. The stories I heard from my older one were enough.
He resembles Mr. Potato Head with an eye patch.
I LOVED Mr. Potato Head.
This is awesome.
It is indeed.
Oh, he's awesome. I think the whole "mr. yuck" story is his attempt to get out of cleaning up. It's pretty clever, actually.
my son is the youngest and the absolute craziest of my 3 children and his sisters whole heartedly agree!
gotta love the little boy stories and pictures they draw!
thanks for following my blog as well. i love your sense of humor and wit.
