one more!

Because we share in my family, Adrianne gave me the Fierce Blog Award this afternoon.
I am fierce! But not like Tyra fierce. Tyra scares me with her nutsy brand of fierceness.
And not like drag queen fierce, sadly. That's my favorite kind of fierce but I don't qualify because I bite my cuticles and don't comb my hair.

But what kind?

Webster's defines fierce as:
1 a: violently hostile or aggressive in temperament
b: given to fighting or killing : pugnacious
2 a
: marked by unrestrained zeal or vehemence fierce argument>
b: extremely vexatious, disappointing, or intense <fierce pain>
3
: furiously active or determined fierce effort>
4
: wild or menacing in appearance

I'm not violent and only passively hostile or aggressive, and that hardly counts. So 1a and b are out.
I do have a hard time restraining my zeal. So I'm liking 2a.
2b sounds not so bad except for the disappointing part. And intense is a little bit much for me. And I try not to be or live vexatiously.
3. YES!
4. sometimes, generally before 9am.

My blog life- turned real life- friend
Kristin is #3 fierce too.
And I'm not just saying this because she may have just complained about not getting any awards. I'm saying this because hers is one of the few blogs that I read because of the smarty things she writes there.
Kristin's blog makes me want to wear glasses.
And chew on the tip of my pen.

Most of my favorite blogs are about people I know and love and care about or they are wildly hilarious and frivolous and go in one ear and out the other which is precisely what I need every ten minutes of the day so my brains don't get clogged up.

Kristin's blog is way #3 fierce and I read every word she writes and sometimes I have to read it twice. Not because she doesn't make sense, but because my eyes move faster than my brain and she writes about such important things that I need to slow my eyes down for so my brain can keep up.

Kristin's smarter than me.
And she's an English teacher, so I know that sentence bothers her.
Alot.
They're goes her red pen, poised over her monitor.
Their probably even more mistakes on here that I didn't pick up on. Its a problem I have- typing without proofreading.
The fact she reads my blog effects my self-esteem because I know she's quietly judging.

I used to think that I was one of the smartest people I knew until I went to grad school and realized I had brainiacpeers. I did great in school and life and work with zero to minimal effort until I was about 23 years old, then my world came crashing down on itself. If you ever want to feel droolingly dumb, seek out post-grad study.
I practically had to wear a helmet to Temple.
It was all very humbling.

Kristin writes about books and food and family and politics and important socio-moral thoughts, like, why literate gays are the same thing as Scandinavian donkeys and how Richard Nixon liked to go to Dunkin Donuts and read gay porn with children who were dressed as firemen. Or something. But she does it in a way that makes you care. And think. And I like it.

Kristin, you are fierce. And I'm not just saying that because you were able to get twenty drunk chicks to compare boobs around my dining room table. I have mad social skillz, but never in my life was I able to pull that one off. Your boobs are fierce. Your blog is fierce. And more people should read it.

So go!
And if you use Google Reader, subscribe to it because she is only 3 subscribers away from a very round number, and as a fellow blogger, I know how nice it is to go into a weekend with a round number of subscribers on Google Reader.

My guess is that writing "Alot" also bothers this Kristen person...you are fiercely witty, Lora.

Duh, I'm a dork! I finished this post and then read your prior post. I commented on Score about both!

Kristin is another fascinating blogger whom I will love getting to know. You both tower over me intellectually, but I enjoy getting to know such strong women. It gives me hope for my two fierce little ladies who will be on their own in a few short years! (is it "who" or "whom" Kristin?)

Now, on to Adrianne...

I'm glad to know comparing boobs isn't just a lonely-wife-of-a-deployed-soldier thing.

Definitely have to check out that blog!

I would never want to be in a boob comparing contest unless there was a prize for the smallest and largest, I one of those whiny small gals:)

I like the urban dictionary the best. It's definitions for fierce are:
1. A term gay men use to describe absolutely everything of "exceptional quality".
2. Being bold, displaying chutzpah, especially relating to fashion, clothes, hair or makeup

Girl, work those heels! Fierce!

HA! Urban Dictionary FTW!

I'm not the world's best speller (although I did make it to nationals in fourth grade... I lost to stupid "sympathy"... I spelled "symphony"... rookie mistake. I let the pressure get to me), but it really annoys me when people don't at least take the time to read over their work, to make sure that they make even an iota of sense. <--- was that a run-on sentence?

You are fierce and Kristen is also totally fierce!

I'm going to check out Kristen's blog next, but now I'm fretting about mistakes on my blog. I type and publish...sometimes proofing after, sometimes fixing, sometimes now. I love your witty blog!
