Supposedly you have the potential to tell a lot about a person if you can get a hold of a sample of her handwriting.

I saw something over at This is the glamorous the other day, but it seems he took it down.  I've known David, who writes over there, for twenty years and I noticed that his handwriting hasn't changed in all that time.
So, I don't know much about handwriting analysis, but I know that I like when something about an old friend stays the same for two decades.

Thanks be to the miracle of Google Reader, I can still lift the game and play it here.

The Rules:
write the following
1) Your name/blog name.
2) Right-handed, left-handed, or ambidextrous?
3) Favorite letters to write.
4) Least favorite letters to write.
5) Write “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”
6) Write the following words in capital letters:
- CRAB
- HUMOR
- KALEIDOSCOPE
- PAJAMAS
- GAZILLION
7) Write your favorite song lyric.
8) Tag people!
9) Any special note or picture.

I write small, so I put a dime up there for reference.  Some people may say that small and tight penmanship may be indicative of certain personality traits.  I wouldn't be one to argue.  And see those large spaces between the lines?  That's for note taking.  I usually have four or five colors of pens so I can take notes on my notes.  And then add notes on my notes.  And sometimes I may need to note some notes on my notes on my notes.  Pilot V5 very fines come in blue, black, red, green, purple, and pink.  I try to carry two of each at all times.
My friend Kristin and I were discussing my blossoming improv (dare I say?) career and she noted that my "edit feature is very strong".  She is right.  A very strong edit feature and the smallness and tightness of certain aspects of my personality is the reason I'm pushing myself into and onward with the improv stuff.  It's helping.  There were probably times when four lines of my handwriting would fit within the span of a dime.

Seriously.

Can you please do this little exercise so I can check out a part of you that I don't normally get a chance to spy on?

Special thanks to my favorite online Pagans Jon and Magaly for awarding me with a bit of sunshine, which is highly apropos this week, which has been a long deserved pretend summer.  Thank you so much, guys!  You two are amazing, and you bring peace and joy into my life with your words and your hearts, and I love the work you do by showing the world that Paganism is not a devil-worship, snakey-bloody, daddy-naked, orgy-inducing, booby-shaking, baby-burning practice.  Brightest blessings to you both!

Last but not least, thank you to Schmutzie and whoever (whomever?  this is why I need an editor) it was that loved the Hamburglar story enough to nominate it for Five Star Friday.  Being nominated for things gives me confidence to keep on keeping on over here.  So do emails thanking me for blogging.  I have a lot of words for a lot of things, but I don't have words that express the way that makes me feel.

I mix cream into my Jello before I eat it.  The exact viscosity of cream in Jello is how it makes me feel.

You guys are pretty damned terrific.

That hand-writing thing is pretty cool. I'm going to make a note to do it for Tuesday (because my scanner at home is buried at the moment).

Somehow, your writing is just as I would expect it to be but it DOES feel a lot like spying somehow.

Amy said...

If I do this and bring it Friday are you going to decipher it for me? :) I would like that.
I don't know how people nominate you for blog stuff but I am glad they did cause that hamburglar story was a great one.

That's really neat. I have never thought too much about people's handwriting. I do look at little kids handwriting all day though and theirs doesn't change much either. By this point in the year I can pick out all their papers when they leave their names off of it.

Cream in Jello... Yup! A winner, only I don't mix it in.

I can't find a sheet of paper to perform the exercise besides, I beyond being too hurried to upload a picture of it anyway. Suffice to say that legibility would be an issue.

The second I get my hands on a camera I'll give this little exercise a try!
You're more than welcome for the award, you earned it! Thank YOU for being so awesome!
I like that the story is now officially known as the Hamburglar Story. I like that a lot.

Wow, you DO write really small. And pointy. I like points. Points are good. My name is pointy, which has nothing to do with nothing.

I want to do that handwriting thing!

Well, I'm happy to know I brought in some of the light! Now I'm going to do this exercise. I should be doing homework, but this looks very cool, so I'll be bad for about 10 minutes ;-D

She does not. Noone likes mayonaise on their jello. That is physically impossible!!

Are you talking about the squirt cream in the can or the container kind or just real cream? I like the squirt kind...and have been known to squirt some straight into my mouth without touching anything and possibly contaminating the can/cream.

Your handwriting is very straight up and is pleasant to look at. I'm hardly an expert, but it does tell some things about you.

There is another one about drawing a pig that tells a ton of stuff about you. OMG we did that one at a learning session while I was working and it was hysterical. The guy who was holding the class nearly fainted when he saw mine...really he did a double take
and said Oh My God! It was good, but it was very much me.

I see Amy is still tickled about the hamburgler post and I was thinking about that the other night, too.

Come by and see the new look on my blog sometime. I just changed a lot of stuff and think it looks pretty nice now. At least it is a change beyond changing the font color. *L*

Congrats on the award from your friends. You do bring sunshine to your readers. Shining clear light
onto some subjects is a good thing.

This is going to be another busy week but I'll try to do your handwriting test sometime this week, and then you can tell me my quirks.

Lora I really wish I had a digital camera or a scanner or some high tech device that I don't have so I could participate in your handwriting spy thing. I am so behind the times. I just bought a cell phone but of course it doesn't have a camera or I could use that (I think anyway). Anyway love love love your blog! How's the weather over there on the other side of the state?

Christina said...

cool.ill try to do this when i have a little more time (in a few days)

I'll try to do the handwriting thing tomorrow.

As for the mayonnaise.....I can't finish my breakfast....

Congrats on the awards!

The last time I submitted my handwriting for analysis, I ended up shining jackboots for a death metal cargo cult for fifteen years (and let me tell you: Micronesian headbangers are the *worst*). Never again. Never again.

I would so do this, but my digital camera blows and will not turn on. (And no, it's not the batteries.)

-->I'm in! Going to write mine out now and post on the blog with a link back to your post. I've always been fascinated by people's handwriting and have even looked into taking a class on the subject.

So what does it mean if you change your handwriting at the drop of a hat?

Done and done. I love this idea. You handwriting really does say so much about you.

Your printing is suspiciously connected between letters. I think everything is connected in your world.

Okay, I did it, I wrote out gazillion and what not. But I don't know how to interpret it. Perhaps I should have stocked up on the colored pns and taken notes.

Thanks for your sweet comment :)

I'll be following you now and have a fantastic Tuesday xx

Gag a mag on the mayo-jello ickiness.
I think i throwed up in my mouth a little.

That hamburg-u-lar story was too funny.
That totally sounds like something that would happen to me, too.

You do have tiny writing, but at the same time it is still very neat. My dad wrote really tiny but you couldn't understand it.
I'll have to try this tomorrow for myself and see what it looks like.
I enjoyed seeing what your writing looks like because I really enjoy READING your writing. (If that made any sense???)
You certainly deserve the Sunshine Award, you always make my day brighter! :-)

Ewww! you started writing right at the edge of the paper!! FINALLY! *Something* I don't like about you ;-)
