Jake won't wear sweater vests anymore. He thinks they are for babies.  "Very important babies wear vests, not kids".
It's starting.  He doesn't want to wear what I want him to wear.  I can't dress him up anymore.
He's his own man.  He's changing.
But that's okay.  Lots of things are still the same.

Yes, my dear. the first step to independence or at least one of the first step. But, that's our job to get the little birds ready to fly the nest, and make decisions on what to wear is very important.

I can't really blame him on the sweater vest. I can't believe how big Jake is getting!

You can always tell when my kids dress themselves - especially my daughter. Red pants and orange shirt. Striped pants and plaid shirt. Too small pants.

My son was mad at me on Christmas day that I wouldn't let him wear the holiest, shortest, grubbiest pants EVER to a Christmas gathering.

My husband gave me an odd look. Apparently not every family refers to outdoor-summer-play clothes as "grubs." Go figure.

Great hair and big brown eyes. That young man, as they say, is going to be a ladykiller. if not already.

Oh my gosh, all of a sudden Jake is looking like a grown up kid.

We are starting to hit the independent dressing stage. Can't say that it's not annoying at times.

As long as he isn't wearing superman pajamas EVERYWHERE he goes...you will be ok. Or snow boots year round...
He is beautiful...just like his Mom.

I know this will probably kill you to read this, but that little boy looks like he is about 10, not 5 in that last picture. My gosh.

It's so amazing how kids come into their own! Maybe next year get him a long sleeved sweater - tell him his arms have grown and so did the sleeves! :) ox

Very important babies? Barn baby? I'm getting more entertainment from Jake's quotes these days than any other entertainment source.
