giving thanks and useless facts

Things I don't like that a lot of people do like:
Cupcakes (unless they are cut in half)
Chocolate
Garlic (especially mixed with mashed potatoes)
Bacon
Popcorn
White bread
Salt
Baths
Buttered vegetables
Babies
Mixed drinks

Thing I wonder:
Do people sneeze in their sleep?

Things I did today:
Got mad at the cat for peeing outside her box then realized that the wall in the laundry room is leaking after smelling the wet paper towel.

The weather yesterday:
Torrential downpours

Thing I wonder:
Why do I compulsively smell everything?

Things I have to do today:
pack my bags
set out large bowls of food and water for the cat

Thing I have to do tomorrow:
Fly to Vegas

What I plan to eat for Thanksgiving dinner:
Fatburger

What I order at Fatburger:
Veggie burger with egg, cheese, mayo, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickle.

Thing I think is funny:
One of Jake's holiday spelling words this week at school is "Indian"

Thing I think sounds racist these days:
Asking a child to sit 'Indian Style'

Thing I'm trying to be in denial about:
My hair is falling out again.

Things I think sound inadvertently sexual:
Any sort of adjective in front of the word 'style'
Anything said with air quotes

Thing I think is hilarious but I haven't thought of in a long time:
Replacing the word "gas" with the word "pussy"
See here

Other thing I have to do today:
Take my child to the eye doctor because he failed his School Nurse Eye Exam
Also, he is 45 pounds and 44 3/4 inches.
He is taller than a lot of his classmates, which comes as a surprise to me but checking the CDC charts he is just above the 50th percentile for height and almost to the 75th percentile for height.  Not bad for a kid who was born at the 50th for height and the 5th for weight.

Thing I know the hard way:
It's really hard on the heart to have a baby who is marked Failure to Thrive for the first six months of life.
Especially being in the field I work in and knowing what is implied by that label.

Thing I'm trying not to do but am failing miserably:
Mommy Blog

Things I'm thankful for:
Everything that I have and the ability to work for everything I need.
Also, I'm thankful for a lot of things I don't have, like bill collectors ringing me up and blood-born illnesses coursing through my body

Everybody have a happy and stress-free Thanksgiving.
If you are feeling overwhelmed by all the familial going-ons, eat more.
It always helps.

(so does running away to Vegas)

Oh, my gosh, you are leaving Philly? Wow, I just see you as such a Philly girl and I wouldn't think you would leave Philly on Thanksgiving, have a blast!!!! It is the one place we have yet to go and we want to go, it is on the list!!
I am not a fan of babies either, I love toddlers, I need the communication.
I am so sorry to hear your hair is falling out again, this is not a good thing.
Hey, you know, you are mom and you can't help but want to chat about your little one, sometimes you go through phases, you want to chat more than other times, go with the flow!
Anyway, you have a wonderful time in Vegas and enjoy your Holiday!!!

I was showing Grady pictures of Jacob the other day...the Halloween ones. He was amazed that they are the same age and have never met. He was also amazed when I told him that Jacob's mom and I were friends. He's always surprised that I had a life before he was around.

Grady is 38 lbs and 42", for reference. He's one of the littlest guys in his class.

Also, neither one of my boys learned "Indian style" at school. They both were taught "criss cross applesauce", which cracked me up the first time I heard it. Evan had to demonstrate.

Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving, Lora!

Perhaps if you mixed some of those things together you might like them more. How about garlic flavoured chocolate? Buttered vegetable babies?

Geez, after all this time, I come back to find that you don't like almost everything I do like. :(

Vegas. Everything that happens there stays there, I've heard. I wonder what you'll do that we won't hear about?? Probably the good stuff. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I never heard of a Fat Burger, but you made it sound tasty!

I don't like chocolate either (I thought I was the only human on earth that didn't), but do love bacon and salt.

Loved your comment about garlic mashed potatoes because my sister has a friend who makes it for Thanksgiving and we tell it's just wrong....

Do you smell everything? Even when you pass a large bowl of salad? (don't ask...lived with college roomie who did that).

Have fun in Vegas and Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

I've heard my kid sneeze in her sleep but I don't think I do it myself? Maybe my snoring prevents the dust/itchy things from entering my nasal passages.

Happy Thanksgiving - win big in Vegas!

"Things I'm thankful for:
Everything that I have and the ability to work for everything I need." This is my favorite line. I agree with you about the babies but not cupcakes or chocolate.
Have a terrific turkey day!

I don't like chocolate either really. I'll eat it if there isn't anything else there but it's not my fave. I don't like garlic either.

It's falling out again? What the hell?? :(

My daughter weighed 18 pounds when she was 18 months old. She would have been in the FTS group, but they didn't have those labels way back then. Her son, my grandy was categorized as FTS and they ran test's on him for all kinds of crap. He is taller than I am now. Oh how he is thriving!

My daughter hates babies too. People look at me like I am a non-nurturing crazy mom. When she does "Pat-a-cake" at the end she ALWAYS says: "....mark with a 'b' and put it in the oven for half an hour." Because she ain't making a cake for baby. Babies are gross.
She hates 'married' too. And kissing. She won't let anyone kiss her but me.
I hope your Thanksgiving was full of thanks and giving.
